Local Tips for Vienna
- Standing-room opera tickets cost a few euros and go on sale shortly before the performance
- Coffee houses expect you to stay — order once and sit; nobody will hurry you out

Best Time to Visit Vienna
April to June and September to October are mild and comparatively quiet. December brings some of the oldest Christmas markets in Europe. July and August are hot and busy, though the Prater and the Danube island take the edge off.
