It is the kind of ordinary neighbourhood institution that cycling through a city lets you notice and driving does not. The surrounding streets, around Nørrebro, are among the most heavily cycled in the world. Ride slowly here and watch how the traffic actually works.

🌳 Hans Tavsens Park is Nørrebro's back garden — grass, football, prams, and people lying about the moment the sun appears. It is being rebuilt to hold stormwater, so parts of it are a construction site as the city adapts to heavier rain. There are racks at the edges and it is a natural place to stop. The Assistens cemetery is a few minutes further on.

6. Havnebadet Islands Brygge
🏊♀️ The harbour bath at Islands Brygge, open since 2003, and the reason people talk about Copenhagen's clean water. The harbour was industrial and filthy within living memory; it was cleaned up deliberately, and now you can swim in the middle of the city. It is free, staffed by lifeguards, and open in summer. There are pools of different depths, including one for small children.
